Tubi has greenlit three new YA films starring Xochitl Gomez (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Chase Hudson (Downfalls High) aka Huddy, and Asher Angel (Shazam! Fury of the Gods), the company announced today.

Gomez leads Hive, a real-time, socially conscious horror-thriller about a strict, anxious teenager who loses the child she’s babysitting and must brave a sinister force hiding in plain sight among the children in the playground. As her world unravels and her grip on reality starts to slip, she must outwit a world where nothing is as it seems to make it out alive. Felipe Vargas has written and will direct the adaptation of his short of the same name. Blue Ice Pictures will produce alongside Nick Scully, Adam Friedlander and Darren Cameron, with Lance Samuels and Samantha Levine exec producing.

Hudson leads How to Lose a Popularity Contest, based on the 2024 Love List script by Kaitlin Reilly and Dorian Keyes. The film is a high school rom-com about a bad boy and a type-A overachiever teaming up to win student body president — and maybe each other. Lindsay McAdam and Jason Fischer are producing on behalf of Great Pacific Media, a Thunderbird company, with Devorah Moos Hankin serving as EP.

Kissing Is the Easy Part, starring Angel, adapts the Wattpad webnovel by Christine Duann. Written by Rebecca Webb, the film follows straight-A overachiever Sean (Angel) as he makes a deal to tutor wild child Flora in exchange for a college recommendation letter to his dream school. But when sparks fly, school is the least of their problems. The film is produced by Wattpad Webtoon Studios’ David Madden, Jason Goldberg and Aron Levitz. Angel is exec producing alongside Blue Ice Pictures’ Lance Samuels and Samantha Levine.

News of Tubi’s new YA originals was announced during the company’s Upront presentation on Monday, where it laid out its full slate for 2025-2026.

“Ad-supported streaming has gone from emerging to essential, and Tubi is leading the way with culture-setting Originals, World Cup programming and product innovation,” said Tubi CEO Anjali Sud. “In an intensely competitive market, we surpassed a billion dollars in ad revenue and continue to accelerate our traction as brands, agencies and partners increasingly look to resonate authentically with young, hard-to-reach audiences.”

Gomez is repped by Savage Agency and Myman Greenspan Fox; Hudson by CAA; Angel by Osbrink, Strand Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; Vargas by Magnolia Entertainment, Verve, and Gang, Tyre, Ramer; Reilly by Kaplan Stahler Agency and attorney Matt Saver; Keyes by Iconoclast and Saver; and Webb by UTA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
